Hello again,
I went off the hinges a little toward the end there, didn’t
I? Wait, you don’t know because I haven’t been writing and sharing like I
should.
So here’s the update & my end-of-the-year review:
I decided to try brave things this year and kicked it off
with entering a Biggest Loser contest which was poorly run, and I didn’t win.
But I did manage to lose some weight, started to feel better & actually enjoyed
going by the end of the thing.
Next, I tried out for a musical all by myself. Though I didn’t
get the role, it boosted me to audition for another show more recently (which I
also didn’t get… ego’s getting a little bruised here). And if we haven’t moved
by Summer of 2014, the local theater will be doing Joseph which I will defiantly
be trying out for.
In March I let a friend read a story I’ve written. She was
the first to read something I’ve wrote since I was in school. And it was not
the kind of thing that ever would have been assigned. So it may have been just
as hard for her to get through. But she did and gave me some good feedback.
Enough that I’d like to continue and try more.
April saw the end of my dealing with a very rough client. It
went better than I thought, and I’ve found myself standing up for myself more
and more. The nightmare of that person still echoes, though, as I discovered
when my last schedule came out, and I experienced a mini-heart attack when I
misread another’s name as the harsh person’s.
While in May, I started a diet. I’ve gained a lot of weight
since moving to IL. And it was time for a change. The change is still
happening.
The heat in June (which was only the beginning as it turned
out) drove me to my next brave attempt. Going to a public pool. :p I did it. It
won’t be happening again, most likely. Too many people, too many chemicals, too
little coverings.
July brought lots of extra hours at work, some ideas for
other sources of extra income and the loss of our little beagle, Lily. L Not one of the best
times of the year.
So by August, I must have been feeling better about myself
& in need of another kick to the ego. Because I signed up for a dating
website. I did get some initial response, but nothing much came of it overall.
And a few people were even blunt enough to talk to me up until the point of
showing photos then disappeared. Ouch.
This is where things left off here. I started working some
insane amount of hours at work. But I did get a few days off to head down to AR
for our annual trip. And another trip to IA to see a dear friend (finally) get
married to a great lady. I also signed up at a gym (different from the one in
Jan.). It’s a lot bigger, but it seems like fewer members, a dry sauna and pool
J are all included in a
cheap, one-time fee - which is also month-to-month so when things get hard
(like now), it can skip a month then go back again later.
The next couple of months were really just a blur of working,
sleeping, cleaning & writing… I did do NaNoWriMo again this year. And am
proud to say I finished. The working actually helped with this because I work
nights and have several hours of down time to write.
The book quickly changed from a rip off of a classic as I
said I would and instead started writing about my life and living with my
father. It may never see any other eyes but mine, (though my sister has asked
for a couple of certain chapters) but it was like a month long therapy session.
And memory session.
So now it’s December and my hours at work have been cut down
to nothing (literally). And besides from a fight that I jumped into, there hasn’t
been anything too brave or exciting happening.
I made some major steps forward in cleaning and sorting out
the house with Mom. And have started selling a lot of things off (or giving
away). It’s wonderful to see empty spaces and actual progress. My online shop
has shown a little pick-up also, so that’s hopeful.
I hope everyone is able to look back on their year and find
the good that happened and smile about it. Here’s to even more giggles in 2013.
