Something Something Something For a Year

It seems that I’ve been coming across a lot of books about people who’ve been their own grand experiments. Well some more grand than others…
Whether it’s a family turning to an all natural way of living, a couple having sex every day for 365 days, or a woman living a life as directed by Oprah for a year. (results: informative -easily adaptable for more people and way healthy; sadly boring- a less close-minded couple may have actually learned something; and like any cult, very expensive and the lady contradicts herself a lot)

So I’ve been wanting to try something similar myself. And I figured now is the right time of year to start a project like this. The only problem is what. I would like it to be a challenge but also a learning experience – hopefully even in an unexpected way. It also needs to be free, DIY or at least very, very cheap. So no big, new hobbies. Also, just because I live in the Midwest and ½ the year it’s very cold and sometimes dangerous out, something practical year-round.
I’ve had a few ideas and suggestions already:
~meditating everyday for a year
~a friend of a friend spent 6 months drawing a smiley/frowny/neutral face on the calendar at the end of each day just to see how good or bleh his life was
~have a no-tech day every week (no tv/computer/phone etc.)
~doing something brave (outside my comfort zone) every week
~yesterday MBRH, who got very interested and started coming up with different things, suggested: stalking someone -maybe even a different person each month, learn a new language by the end of the year, paint/draw something new each week (actually I kind of like that last one)

So, I’ll think on it some more, but I want to start whatever it is by the end of this week.
Any ideas? Comments? Issues? (and please keep them polite)

And HAPPY 2012!!!

Yule 2011

Disclaimer: Yes, I know it’s a couple of days late, but I did come up with this on the 21st, but just got it typed up and posted today.

So, it’s that time of year again for thought and reflection – a birthday. I’m spending the evening with a brand new client (who, thanks above, is very sweet) who is giving me most of the 12 hours to sit and think and write.
I started to think about all that’s happened this past year, but after realizing what a dull year it’s been, I stopped looking back and started to focus forward.
So instead, here’s my birthday list of where I hope to be by 34:
~Let’s get the basics out of the way- I’m going to be eating better, more active, and more healthy.
~I will be half…or at least a smaller version of myself now. (see above)
~We will finally have this house clean, de-cluttered and organized!
~We will also clean-up our finances and credit scores, and have that nice comfortable feeling.
~I hope to be living in another state. (And I don’t mean a state of mind.)
~Along with that new state and a recent email, I hope to have a new, dream job. Or at least, a peaceful  transfer of my current job.
~I will spend more time meditating and sitting quietly with my thoughts.
~I will try to do more brave things and get over at least some of my fears.

So here’s looking to the future and the coming year. And things will be even brighter by Dec 2012…if the world doesn’t end, that is. ;D
